for my little Wild Thing

One of Henry's favorite books is Where the Wild Things Are. He loves running around the house saying "I'LL EAT YOU UP." So with Halloween around the corner I thought he must be Max. Although I love to sew and have been for a long time, I have no idea how to follow a pattern, sew a button hole or sew in a zipper. I am very much a 'wing it' seamstress {much like my cooking... ie. the blasted Dutch baby}. So when it came to Max I decided to get some off-white courderoy, fur, felt and 4 buttons. I used my kraft paper to make a pattern {of sorts}. I just outlined a pair of Henry's pajamas with about a 1/2 inch extra all around. I started this project last weekend because I thought that it could be a total flop in which case I would need time for plan B. Well so far so good. I still need to make some claws but I think I almost have a complete 'wolf suit'... And if you are at all considering making a costume you totally have time. There are a couple more weeks and if you are anything like my mom the bulk of the making is usually the night before the parade or party any way. yeah... Happy Halloween!

  9. halloween in the UK when i was little was a bit of a non event; not so now. however this meant no culture to 'run up costumes' for my son. don't think, at 16, he'd appreciate if i started now! clever you, how cute...
