I am enjoying our quiet little house so much right now. I know as soon as our remodel "officially" starts {just in case you are keeping track, I thought we would break ground last week, but luckily I have a very wise husband that thinks we shouldn't start until our plans are final... I am just so ready to get this thing done}. Anyway, as a kid we lived in 14 homes before I went to college and many of them were major remodels so this is causing a bit of anxiety. I know that it will be great but I have vivid memories of hot dogs for breakfast, asking the neighbors if I could move in and contractors walking in the bathroom as my mom was showering... yikes! By the way, I am one of five kids and all of that chaos seemed normal to me then - now it just gives me crazy anxiety. Needless to say, I love it when my house is quiet, I have a candle burning, something in the oven and I am home... I am a total homebody.

PS. I have never used the word 'anxiety' on my blog and I just said it twice... you get the picture {wink}.

  1. My childhood was a lot like yours...and my adult life seems to match you as well! Too funny. Good luck with everything!! I'm
sure it will be worth it in the end!

  2. My family would build houses, live in them and then sell them. I have fond memories of rollerskating on the slab (being wary of that darn rebar sticking up out of the ground), making furniture with scrap wood and nails that I would find lying around and getting lectured when the pretty pink insulation would come in. "That is NOT cotton candy!" However, I don't think we ever did a remodel. I cannot imagine how hard that would be. Just keep reminding yourself of how happy you'll be when it's all said and done!! And keep the bathroom door locked! :)

  3. Oh Alexis, 14 times?! I understand the anxiety and excitement of a remodel. It's tiring! I remember we literally had our fridge in the living room when our kitchen was being done. Stuff was EVERYWHERE and Penelope was just learning to walk. It was nuts! I tend to be a homebody too, it's a chance to reset. But I cannot wait to see the final result of your house, I know it'll be amazing and inspiring. Love the photos!

  4. Oh, I just want to come over with a cup of tea for you and chat about the whole process so you can get it off your chest. Sounds intense. I moved 19 times before college so I sort of feel your anxiety.

  8. I have grown into a homebody. How did that happen? I was a gypsy for years. Just got back from a great road trip and I love sitting on my bed typing. Great to see you before we left for the wilds.

  10. Wow, that's a lot of houses. Your remodel is going to be gorgeous and when you're in the thick of it remember "this too shall pass" and the reward will be epic. One piece of advice...go get a massage! I'm serious, it will help tremendously. xo
