Thank you so much for all of your participation in this past weeks conversation on
Simplicity Parenting. I learned so much from all of the co-hosts, comments and emails I have received. One of the things that is so interesting is our united desire to simplify. Is that the trend? or did we all just seek each other out because of our common ideals? Either way I am encouraged and inspired by you all. Thank you.
And what is our real job as parents, if not first to nurture the beings entrusted to our care, to have faith in their inchoate processes of growing and becoming, and then to show up, again and again, for as long as we are able, to bear grateful witness to their unfolding destinies?

this discussion has been priceless. just knowing how others have or are incorporating the information shared in this book... how they've experienced and dealt with roadblocks or push-backs... when ryan finishes listening to the book, i'm going to pull these posts up for him, so he can read them all, along with the comments!
ReplyDeletethanks again alexis... so much fun getting to know you better (along with so many other gals) through this series of posts :).
Thank YOU Lex for making this possible! It's been so wonderful reading the posts, comments and being a small part of the discussion. I have learned a lot and can't wait to read the book and revisit all of the past posts and comments. Thank you, and happy belated Mother's Day! You (and I told Jules the same) are such an awesome mama, and woman, thanks for being an inspiration to me :) xo
ReplyDeletethank YOU for setting this up....it was such a great idea! and I LOVE that quote. :) xoxo
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for hosting. It was great being part of such a thoughtful discussion on parenting!
ReplyDeletethis photo is super adorable:)
ReplyDeleteWow...I had hoped to grab a copy of the book and participate in this when Haydee mentioned but I didn't make it. Just sat and read through all the posts and following discussions and have to say this is one time I'm glad to have seen the movie before reading the book, if you know what I mean. I feel like I will get so much more out of reading it after hearing how the parents who posted have thought about and applied the ideas in the book. Thanks for doing this, Alexis!
ReplyDeletelet's do another book club again soon. okay?
ReplyDeleteJust discovered your blog and can´t wait to dig in.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading these posts, I am definitely going to read this book....awesome series.
ReplyDeleteAlexis.. you are so wise. I love reading your blog, and rarely do I comment - I should more :) But, I just wanted to pop in and say I read all of these posts, and - how inspiring. I'm several years away from having kids, but I certainly got an education that will stick with me. Just today I had a conversation about the worries of the world that kids have these days- but this really opens your eyes and proves that there is a way to keep childrens' childhoods magical, and stress-free, and happy just to be a kid. I really should pick up a copy!
ReplyDeleteit is so much fun to get your comment... we haven't blog-chatted in so long... really this book is a life book... there are so many ideas that my husband has even used in his job and that we have used to manage our lives and stress levels... it is a great read :)
DeleteGreat blog! Im excited to read more. :)

ReplyDeleteWishing you sunshine & cheer!
It seems I have come late to these posts, but oh, how they speak to me in this very now. My first child is due to arrive in a mere four months, and already I know in my bones that many of the concepts you and the other bloggers have talked about here feel right to me. I will be reading this book. And subscribing. And hoping you post again soon!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I love the heartfelt words about parenting. And the beautiful words from Katrina Kenison -- I want to etch them on my heart.
