To make these little cards I have been cutting hearts out of different kinds of paper, fabric and string. First Henry fills the card with lots of stamps, then he VERY liberally pours glue all over. I hand him a doily and he does the rest.
And below is one of the Valentines that I have been playing with. As you all know I am pretty smitten with my new obsession, calligraphy. I have been trying to incorporate it into a Valentine so this is my first pass. I thought to spread the love I would give it away for one of you to give your true love. It is made with a page from the dictionary, a piece of quilt {the same one that made this guy}, sewn together with lots of room for a juicy love letter. Leave a comment by next Tuesday, 2/8, and I will announce a winner on Wednesday. good luck. And one more thing... my sweet friend Sarah who writes Walking Around {where the sidewalk begins} has asked me to guest post on her blog today. Have a lovely weekend... see you all Monday. ox

ReplyDeleteAlexis it's beautiful! I have been wanting to learn calligraphy for so long. My mom taught calligraphy when my sister and I were babies. She'd take us to her classes and we'd come home with black ink smudges all over our faces. : ) I don't know how I still haven't learned myself. Your valentine's are stunning!

ReplyDeleteAlexis, these are gorgeous -- your calligraphy is really stunning. Oh, I so wish I had taken that class at Alt. Maybe I can find another offered in my area. Hope you're having a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeletehi Alexis, I've just come across your blog. It's beautiful. Looks like we are both interior designers too. Keep up the great calligraphy work, I've always wanted to learn.
ReplyDeleteSoo cute! Simple and personal. I love it!
ReplyDeleteThe Valentines are adorable. No one will ever throw these away! I'm so jealous with your calligraphy...I've never been able to master that. Can you believe when we lived in new Canaan they actually did a unit in art class in the 6th grade on the history of calligraphy? My daughter is left handed...so she found it very challenging, but still loved learning about it.
ReplyDeletevery cute idea .. the print over a page from the dictionary looks great!
