Some of my favorite little treasures. Limoges boxes given to me by my grandparents and one from my dear friend on her wedding day, a shell Ross found on one of his trips, my favorite smelly stuff, all sitting on a tray that my mom and dad gave us for our wedding. Plus a clock {that doesn't work} from France and a piece of milk glass given to me at Henry's baby shower. The little soap dish I found at an estate sale many years ago. The fixture was just something basic our plumber sourced and I found the french decals for hot and cold which I love. The mirror was made by the framer I use for my clients. He had this little plack that was a sample for what he does for gallery pieces, I asked him to stick it on my frame. After a little heckling he said he would do it. I love it... who is Danquart A. Weggeland? This light is from Wisteria... I don't think they have it any more but they often have really fun fixtures and are really reasonable. I think I spent $80 on this one.The window treatments are probably my favorite little detail. The lace banding was found at a flea market in New York and the white linen I bought on my trip to France this summer. Each piece has big beautiful embroidery and down the center you can see how the fabric was hand stitched together... so much soul + it reminds me of my incredible adventure. Our little commode is painted the color of the tub. On the wall is one of my favorite surf posters, designed by Tom Adler + the little splash of orange is my favorite part. The window treatment is made out of an antique table runner that my mom gave me many years ago.
Side Note: If you have been following my blog I am sure you think it is a little odd that I talked so much about our remodel and then... well nothing. No photos, no follow up. A few friends and bloggers have asked for me to get posting so here is my first one... our bathroom. There are little things that I want to finish in this room {art, painting the legs of my tub, and old rug for the floor} but I am going to get over it and post. I have decided that we will probably live in this house for 50 years and if I find everything all at once I wont have anything to hunt for later. So I guess our house will be done in 50 years and that is too long to wait for a silly post, no?
keep them coming! I am inspired. What a beautiful home you have!

ReplyDeleteI hope by now you have Googled Danquart Anthon Weggeland as listed on the plaque attached to your Mirror. He is known as the "Father of Utah Art" as he taught many of the LDS (mormon) Paris Art Missionaries prior to they're departure to France. His work is not amazing but does show a representation of period art in early Utah. His best pieces are his landscapes in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteHope this helps you.
