One year today I started blogging.
My great grandfather Charles had a bookshelf in his house that was full of spiral notebooks. Every page was covered in pencil writing that said a few specific things... what my grandmother and him weighed that morning, if he happened to fill up his car and if there was a significant event that happened that day. As a little girl I remember sneaking into his room and pulling 1979 off of the shelf. July 5th 1979, there I was, 'Alexis Nicole Zolezzi was born, 7lbs 13oz, in San Diego, California.' Ever since I saw that I have attempted dozens of journals. I think every resolution since has had something to do with keeping some sort of record of life's occurrences. And much to my surprise my blog has become just that, although my blog doesn't include Ross and my weight everyday {yikes can you believe that is true}, it is a little slice of my life documented for anyone to read. Thank you for encouraging me with your comments and emails. I have had so much fun sharing with you all.
all my love & light. Alexis
P.S. as a token of celebration for this anniversary I will pick a person at random to win a little goodie/mystery bag from the Art Barn. Just leave your comment by next Friday {10/7}...good luck.
What a great story!

ReplyDeleteAnd I love that story about your grandpa. Thanks for sharing.
Congratulations! I love reading your blog and appreciate you sharing your thoughts and experiences with us.
ReplyDeleteGreat anecdote. I think journals and sketchbooks are kinda scary to contemplate as one can be too critical and end up ripping out pages not to ones satisfaction. Somehow blogging is different; of course posts can be deleted but after generous comments this seems a tad puerile and self absorbed...
ReplyDeletecongratulations my dear..i am so happy i met you in this crazy way, you are a read a get excited to open and read !

I love your blog and the art barn! YOu are so inspiring and I love your creativity! I want an art barn....My sisters and I keep saying we want to start a blog to chronicle our different lives...
ReplyDeleteAlexis! How we know each other is sortof 'happenstance'...and hopefully the irony of me finally commenting on your blog for the first when you are picking someone to win a goodie bag from you, is not misrepresentative of my daily committment to indulging in your blog. I have been following and am so inspired by your life! The last time I saw you, I was with Lisa and Henry was about 8 months old? Or it could have been Ross's 30 bday in San Diego? Or a LuLuLemon trunk show at your house? Either way, I truly enjoy reading your blog, since cameo appearences in each other's lives are slight-to-none since I moved back to the midwest. BTW: never do that. :) If I ever had a blog, it would be daily reminders to appreciate Southern California. Anyway, happy califrench blogging trails to you. :)-- "cousin Ellen from Illinois"
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 1 year! So glad you share your writing with all of us :)

ReplyDeleteWell, no need for me to continue on...you know EXACTLY how I feel about you and FF!
congratulations! I wonder if there's a business that can turn a blog into a paperback--eureka!--another business in born (we seem to birth many businesses in our heads) but yours would be a bestseller. Love your writing, your pics, and your thoughts...best wishes for another wonderful year!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on keeping this up for a year now. We are all blessed by you! Thanks for sharing a bit of your life with us. Love, Nini

ReplyDeleteThose keys are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI remember watching my grandmother writing a journal every night when we stayed with her. I asked her what she wrote about. "Things that go on throughout my day. You. Your mom. Your sister." I asked if I could read them. "When I die."
She's still alive, but I wonder what's in those journals... I'm always interesting in knowing what someone else thought about the same events that I've experienced.
